This piece was inspired by a hike I took to top of Superstition Mountains. The further into my hike I was left in awe of the beauty that erupts in the desert in unexpected colors shaped by light, shadow and the spaces in between.
Yet, it always points back to the Creator behind it all and it being His masterpiece long before mine. I only borrowed the colors, but the glory was always His.

The golden-yellow wildflowers brought to life with the added texture of simmering gold flakes.
This painting carries a hidden history—beneath its vibrant surface lies an earlier work I once considered finished. But over time, it no longer felt true to what I wanted to express. So I began again, layer by layer, letting go of what was to make room for what could be. In many ways, this final piece emerged not just through paint, but through patience and faith in the process. It’s a reminder that even when something feels complete, there’s often something deeper waiting to be revealed—a masterpiece just beneath the surface.

Once an attempt at an abstract painting now hidden beneath the Echoes of Color in the Desert. I found that flipping the painting upside down allowed me to use the existing dark browns to anchor the shadows beneath the wildflowers. I chose to leave small fragments of the original painting visible—quiet remnants of its first story. small pieces of the original painting visible. If you look closely you might just catch glimpses of what once was, woven into what it became.
